We worked alongside TRL (Transport Research Laboratory) on behalf of the Department for Transport (DfT) to produce guidance on Psychological Traffic Calming.
The project involved developing and testing alternative traffic calming techniques which make greater use of psychological measures and which still have a significant speed-reducing capability.
TRL analysed psychological theories that might provide insight into how specific road design measures might reduce driving speeds. We worked alongside TRL to propose and develop a series of innovative measures for traffic calming based upon these principles.
Photomontage was used to illustrate a range of different situations and treatments across several test sites.
