Slinfold parish lies in the attractive wooded countryside of the Sussex Low Weald. Ten potential residential and mixed use sites had been promoted by landowners for inclusion in the proposed Slinfold Neighbourhood Plan. These included sites at the village edge, within the Conservation Area, brownfield sites and a large site close to the urban edge of Horsham.
We carried out a landscape sensitivity and capacity appraisal of the sites in order to provide the Parish Council with robust and sound evidence to help inform their site assessment process, and in turn, the sustainability appraisal of the Neighbourhood Plan.
Key landscape and visual mitigation issues associated with each of the sites were identified, in terms of the extent, layout, form and scale of any appropriate development.
